Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Once again it is time to update you on the status of the building project. At this point the majority of the earthwork has been completed and we are waiting on the permits from Grove City. These should be issued during the week of July 7 and then the real work will begin.

Financially, we have seen an increase in contributions to the building fund. This is very encouraging and with the Lord’s help, it will continue to increase. There is still a ways to go. Of particular concern are those members who are still not contributing to the building fund for some reason or another. If there are concerns or issues that you would like to discuss concerning the building project, please do not hesitate to talk to one of the Building Committee members. We would love to hear from you.

This facility is for the entire church body. It will provide a means for us to have large fellowship gatherings and other functions that for the last several years have been impractical or impossible. Talking to members of other congregations, they were amazed at the unanticipated use of such a facility once it was built. I think it will be the same with our facility. Off the top of my head, here are some uses I see for the facility:

·         Large fellowship gatherings

·         Ladies and men’s breakfasts and dinners

·         Easter breakfast

·         Youth group activities such as sleepovers

·         Wedding receptions

·         School plays, and other activities such as basketball and volleyball

·         Christmas pageants

·         Vacation Bible School activities

·         Weekend events

·         Did someone say Fish Fry?

This facility will provide us with a means to bring our congregation together for functions and will provide a strong avenue to draw youth to our church. The new facility will also serve as an evangelism tool for bringing new people of all ages to the church. And let us not forget that the facility will include new bathrooms and in the future a full service kitchen.

At the start of this letter, I said that the real work is about to begin. That goes for all of us as well. There are many work equity items coming up in the very near future and we need your help. We appreciate those who filled out the survey and you will be contacted soon. There will be a more comprehensive survey coming out in the near future. Anyone who has not filled out the survey, please contact someone on the Building Committee if you can assist in any of the items listed below. Experience is not necessary.

·         Roofing

·         Cleanup

·         Painting

·         Drywall, Carpentry, door hanging

·         Plumbing

·         Landscaping

·         Digging of drainage ditch

If you have any questions or can assist in any way, please let us know. We would love to hear from you.

Yours in Christ,

Tom Heckathorn
